Teaching Experience Grades 2-12 and Adults

I schooled at a local college in the Bahamas and have been teaching art since 2004. I have a professional working relationship with non-profit art organizations such as Art Start in St. Paul, St. Cloud Pararmount Arts, and more recently with the Boys and Girls Club of St. Cloud. I have also completed many residencies in local schools such as Elk River, Mary Queen of Peace, Royalton, Discovery, Foley, Area Learning Centers and more.

Here are some of the ways I like to explore and nurture creativity:

  • I seek to leave an indelible experience on hearts and minds of all students while elevating their understanding and appreciation of the arts.
  • I bring the ability to truly assess the need of not just the classroom as a whole but also of each student individually
  • What is in it for Students: My aim is to give each student enough one on one time which helps them to see their own accomplishments and achievements and not compared to others.

RESIDENCY projects…

Grades K-2: Create a painting of a sunset to establish the understanding of art fundamentals
Grades 2-3: Intagrating math with art by creating hex designs
Grades 5-8: Combine Art with Language Arts and create a painting based on how we use metaphors and symbolism to inspire what we paint
Grades 9-12: Combine math with art to recognize and create a drawing or painting using the Fibonacci Sequence.

All projects can be adapted to fit the needs of the class and goals and preferences of the teachers.
