Teaching Experience all age ranges, with emphasis on 13yrs and older

As an experienced community development professional and emerging creative (placemaker and public artist), I seek to curate people inspired spaces. My work results in collaborative and customized concepts (temporary or fixed) for a public space(s).

Here are some of the ways I like to explore and nurture creativity:

  • My creative inspiration comes from reading, writing, space planning, community conversations, re-purposing objects (fabric, furniture, etc.) and nature based exploration.

Residency projects…

  1. R U Open to the Public?
Public art continues to grow as more artists - across disciplines and backgrounds - enter the field. In this course, participants will explore how to translate their preferred art form into public art. The instructor will outline the four steps an artist can take to begin to create a unique experience within an existing public space.

All projects can be adapted to fit the needs of the class and goals and preferences of the teachers.

Project Description:
The Holdingford Mill Art Project was a two-year collaborative effort supported by the Holdingford In Partnership Committee (HIP). Established in 2005, HIP works with volunteers to spearhead projects and programs by targeting resources to revitalize the community, while preserving its unique heritage. This project showcases the power art has in distinguishing public spaces. The artist, Keith Raivo, visually connects Holdingford's unique history to our valuable recreational resource - the Lake Wobegon Trail.
This project was made possible because of the following:
* Site donated by the Holdingford Mill
* Metal donated by Polar Tank Trailer LLC-Opole

This project was funded in part by the Initiative Foundation of Central Minnesota, Forecast Public Art and Central MN Arts Board with funds provided by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, as appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature, with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.
